Jean Ruffo, Certified Feng Shui Practitioner

                     & Licensed Real Estate Professional

I received my formal training at the American School of Classical Feng Shui in

Downstate NY.  I have been educated in three different forms of Feng Shui:

While all types of Feng Shui are concentrating on the energy called Chi of the

surrounding area, each type involves a different level of detail:

Symbolic - Symbolic Feng Shui is the least comprehensive of the three types I

practice.  It involves placing symbols, such as coins or statues in strategic locations

to enhance specific aspects of one's life.

Eight Mansions - Eight Mansions Feng Shui is based on compass directions and how

the objects in and around these specific areas effect the energy in the home.

Adjustments are made to maximize the good Chi and minimize the bad.

Flying Star - Flying Star Feng Shui is the most comprehensive of these three types.  It is extremely detailed and  individualized.  Flying Star takes into account not only

the compass directions, but also the birthdates of the of the occupants of the

home and how that relates to the compass points and the  5 elements.   The

adjustments for this type may include objects, colors and/or shapes.

Feng Shui literally means "wind" and "water" and dates back 2000 years to ancient China.  It incorporates astronomy, energy fields, physics and geography as they

realte to the environment.  Feng Shui is based on practical methods used by the

ancient Chinese people to achieve happy, healthy, productive lives .  It has stood the testof time because it works.  And it boils down to this:

IT'S ALL ABOUT BALANCE

It is impossible for everything to be perfect  in terms of Feng Shui, but achieving the best balance possible is the ultimte goal.

Frequently asked questions:

Q: What is Chi ?

A: Chi is an energy force that is around us all the time but cannot be felt or seen,

much like  magnetic force or electricity.  Feng Shui uses its principles to direct the flow of this energy around us.  Acupuncture is also based on balancing the Chi

inside the body for better health.  Chi can have both positive and negative effects,

which is why we strive for balance.

Q: Why should I hire a consultant instead of doing it myself?

A: Doing it yourself is OK for very simple applications, however to do a comprehensive

job you need someone who is trained to handle it.  You may have read several articles

or even books on the subject, but are you sure they were all talking about the same

methodology?  It is importasnt to be consistant in your approach.

Q: How does Feng Shui differ from interior design?

A: While many of the same principles are applied (such as floor plan consideration,

furniture placement, lighting, accessories and color choices), the primary goals are

different.  The goal in Feng Shui is to enhance positive energy and minimize negative

energy, rather than to just satisfy the eye or function.  I can work with you and

your persopnal preferences to achieve the optimum outcome.

Q: Do I have to make all the recommended adjustments at once?

A:  NO!  In fact, gradual changes are actually better.  Too much change, even for the

better, can upset the natural balance of your environment.  Plus, it will be easier to

evaluate the effects if modifications are done gradually.

Q: What can I expect from a consultation?

A: For a comprehensive Flying Star consultation, I would need to have an accurate

floor plan of your home (or office).  If one is not available, I will take measurements and create one myself. I would need the birthdates of all members of the family living in

the home and I would ask questions about certain aspects of your life.  I would spend

some time talking with you and then walking throughout the house, taking pictures

and notes about the current status. I would get an accurate reading of the facing

direction of your home using a tool called a Lo Pan.  I would use all this information to do a thorough evaluation.  I would then write up a complete report, including my

reccomendations, that would be discussed with you at our next meeting.
